Invitation text by Scott Hawkins:

Monday 25th November 2002

You are invited to join artist in residence Malte Steiner/ Elektronengehirn from Germany, Foster (UK) and Scott Hawkins (UK) for a one-off live musical performance entitled "IT Hz, The Nature of Obsolescence" lunchtime on Monday 25th November 2002 starting at 12.30pm in the (redundant) Wham Bar space at Sheffield Hallam University, Psalter Lane Campus. The concert will incorporate four adapted, distressed, directed laptop computers to produce music (organised sound). Their specifications ranging from two obsolete 286 and 386 processors to a Pentium 133 and Powerbook G4. Four products expressing nearly twenty years evolution in ICT, united for one last "live" performance. Malte will be improvising with his Sensitive Metainstrument System, modulating / augmenting live sound generated on MAX / MSP via Wind Controller along with more brutal interventions from Scott Hawkins and Foster via QWERTY Keyboard (Slaptops). This is a free concert with limited numbers so please come early to avoid disappointment. It is open to members of EMC and staff and students at Sheffield Hallam University only. (No alchohol allowed)
