Jim Prevett visited Kontupiste on 12/12/06. It is a very interesting and exciting medialab in Kontula, an eastern suburb of Helsinki. It has a lot of similarities to Access Space in that it is:

  • An open access media lab for anybody to come and use
  • Using open source software: it has a network of 11 machines running on Ubuntu.
  • It is free.
  • It encourages learning and creativity through the use of technology.

    • They have been funded through European money for the last 4 years. This has now run out so we wish them all the best in getting some support from other funding streams
